Pharmacognosy Garden
At medicinal garden student got themselves acquainted with plants of medicinal value like Neem, Kachnar, Tejpatta, Amla, Mango, Curry patta, Putranjeeva, Ashoka, Arjuna, Jamun, Bahera, Harar, Rati, Kanghi, Vacha, Apamarg, Vasaka, Ghrit kumari, Satavari, Kalmegh, Brahmi, Aak, Sadabahar, Aparajita, Haldi, Lemon grass, Krishna Datura, Mehendi, Mint varieties, Lajwanti, Kaunch, Kaner, Kali tulsi, Ram tulsi, Kapur tulsi, Tulsi, Kapur tulsi, Sarpagandha, Babchi, Ashwagandha, Bach, Vasaka, Anantmula, Kapur, Kaner, Akarkara and many more. In botanical garden, P.U students saw Ephedra, Lotus and different varieties of cactus. The students also visited another botanical garden established by Chandigarh Administration in Sarangpur. In this garden there are 15 Botaical Sections namely Medicinal Plants Section, Bambusetum, Ficus grove, Palmatum, Pinetum, Ornamental plants, Arboretum, Sacred grove, Nutrition garden, Orchidarium, Cactus & Succulent, Aquatic Plant, Rare Plants, Tropical Rain forest, Bulbous garden & Japanese garden. The student saw more than 75 species of medicinal trees and 55 species of medicinal shrubs, herbs & climbers like Harar, Bahera, Amla, Neem, Arjun, Maulsari, Bael, Kathal, Sandalwood, Kachnar, Camphor, Lasura, Gular, Rudraksha, Jamun, Sita, Ashok, Guggal, Putranjeeva, Giloe, Akarkara, Gokhru, Ghritkumari, Ashwagandha, Sarpagandha, Tulsi, Mehndi, Kalmegh, Bhringraj, Mandukparni, Brahmi, Bansa, Vacha etc. and learnt their therapeutic uses. Dr. Sanjay Bajaj, Principal of the institution said that though the institution is maintaining its own Medicinal garden but this visit was aimed to provide additional knowledge and exposure. He also thanked the Chairman of the group Mr. Ashwani Garg for the encouragement and support.
